Welcome to Do It Ourselves Studios, a creative hub for musicians, bands and DJs based in Stockport. We are a North West organisation offering professional recording, rehearsal and DJ studio spaces built around a strong community ethos.
Our studios are designed to support artists at every stage, whether you are rehearsing for a show, recording a project, practising a DJ set or preparing for a live performance. At DIO, we believe in making music together. It is not DIY, it is DIO, Do It Ourselves.

Do It Ourselves embraces a hands-on, collaborative approach to music and audio. With decades of experience in the grassroots music industry, our aim is to provide artists with practical spaces, reliable equipment and genuine support throughout their creative journey.
Whether you need recording or filming, a place to rehearse, or help developing your live work or productions, our studios are designed to be flexible, welcoming and easy to use. There is always someone available to help you get comfortable and make the most of your session.

OUR STUDIO SPACES
We offer three core studio environments, each designed for a specific creative purpose. You can explore individual studio pages or view them together below.
Rehearsal Rooms
Our rehearsal rooms provide acoustically treated rehearsal space for bands and artists preparing for gigs, writing sessions or general practice. Each room is equipped with industry-standard gear, allowing you to rehearse with confidence and consistency.
You can also capture simple demo recordings during rehearsal using the mixer’s built-in multitrack recording capability, making it easy to document ideas as they develop.

DJ Studio, The Snug
Our dedicated DJ studio, known as The Snug, is a soundproofed room fitted with club-standard Pioneer flagship equipment. The setup offers a powerful, clear monitoring system, giving DJs an accurate and reliable environment for practising selections, transitions and scratches.
The room is designed for focused sessions at a reasonable price point, supporting both new and experienced DJs. Livestreaming support is also available through our friends at The Snug.

Recording Studio
Our Stockport recording studio is the heart of Do It Ourselves. The space features tall ceilings, large 4 metre windows and carefully considered lighting, creating an inspiring environment without compromising functionality.
The hybrid recording system provides 32 channels of analogue processing alongside a digital workflow, routed through multiple ADAT connections and a selection of classic and modern outboard equipment. Artists can book sessions with our in-house engineer for recording and production, or connect their own laptop via USB and access the system directly.

Our band, Redwing, used Do It Ourselves Recording Studio for live performance recording. Dan put together an excellent package for both tracking and filming for us. The Toft Audio desk has beautiful pre-amps, great to hear a warm tone to my drums even before any effects or eq put on them. You're not just getting the space, time and equipment, you're getting Dan's wonderful expertise and understanding of the process. He really makes you at ease / comfortable to just get on with it. Can't recommend enough.

Amazing space, used the recording studio in Stockport and my mind was blown at how resourceful the space is. The equipment, the kitchen. A lot of love and thought has been put into building this space and you can tell. I will definitely be using it again. Price was amazing too!!
