ABOUT US

Hello!

My name is Jess Coulson and I loved going out so much I made it my job.

Starting at 16 when realising that instead of sneaking into a club we could approach them directly and offer to fill them, with the agreement that they would look away from the fact we were all underage. Stockport never knew what hit it.

I didn't realise there was such thing as

is an experienced events producer and venue manager with over a decade of experience working across grassroots music, festivals and community arts in the UK and internationally. She put on her first club nights at 16 in Stockport, and at 23 was the event manager for Antwerp Mansion before leaving Manchester in 2014.

After leaving Manchester Jess ran a music venue in London before joining the world of festival freelancers, and then spent two years in Bristol including a contract with Arcadia Spectacular. Festivals broadened her experience in live event production as well as nurturing a love for mixing different forms of creativity into shows.

Passionate about creating spaces for artists to thrive, after leaving Islington Mill as a Project Coordinator Jess was then General Manager of Old Abbey Taphouse, a 250-capacity grassroots music venue and community hub which was a casualty of the current epidemic of nightclub and grassroots venue closures.

She is also coordinator of local community festival Celebrate and continues with freelance events roles across festivals and venues including Homobloc, Sounds From The Other City, Moovin and many others.

Since 2022 she has done independent promotions under Do It Ourselves putting on live music and club nights across Manchester venues including SOUP, Peer Hat, Niamos, Band On the Wall, Low Four Studio, SUPERMASSIVE, Stage and Radio and Six Trees.
